What I’ve Been Listening to Recently

Here are the songs I’ve had on repeat this month!

September 24, 2025

This month, I’ve been getting into a lot of music for the first time. While this probably won’t be a monthly series or anything like that, I’d really love to write about some of these songs/artists that I’ve been listening to this September!

Panchiko

Earlier this month, I was fortunate to see Panchiko play live! Their music has always been around for me, but I really got into them more with their newest album Gingko that dropped in April. With this year’s album release and their tour, I’ve been listening to them more frequently and have had a few of their songs on repeat.

“All They Wanted” and “Gwen Everest” are two of their tracks that are frequently on repeat for me, but I also enjoy the title track from Gingko. Panchiko’s internet-centric indie sound mixed with melancholy lyrics fit perfectly with the change into Fall and have been giving me some solace as I’ve grinding through life recently.

WE ARE!

From one anime album cover to another, one of my most played songs of the month is the first One Piece theme song, “We Are!” It is basically the complete opposite of Panchiko’s music, capturing such an energetic and hopeful tone that fits the series perfectly. The synths and horns genuinely get me so pumped every time. This song definitely has a bit of a bias behind it, because I have recently started reading One Piece and have been loving it, so having a song fitting with that has been perfect.

And as an ominous note, let’s just say fans of hearing my thoughts on One Piece are in for a treat very soon!

Bleach Characters’ Favorite Tracks

Speaking of manga series I’ve started this year…

A few months back I started reading Bleach. Now, I’m nearly 300 chapters in and can confidently say that this will probably go down as one of my favorite series ever. Nearly all of that is just because of how well-written, fun, and real the characters feel. It’s a testament to Tite Kubo’s character writing that he introduces like twenty new characters every arc and they’re all super unique and engaging.

Kubo has a really interesting way of psychologizing his characters because part of his process involves deciding on a character’s favorite song. Nearly every character (at least that I’ve met so far) has one and they all fit so incredibly well. On top of that, songs can range from a great song from a well-known band like Gorillaz or Radiohead to songs that barely anyone has heard of.

Recently, I’ve been listening a lot to Gin’s choice “Snake Tongued Beast” by Saybia, Ichigo’s choice “News from the Front” by Bad Religion, and Orihime’s choice “T’en va pas” by Elsa. Each of these tracks fit the characters perfectly and are genuinely just great tracks besides the fact that they connect to characters I love.

PinkPantheress

PinkPantheress Tiny Desk Concert

Tying into manga and internet culture, I really started getting into Fancy That this month, specifically because of PinkPantheress’ recent Tiny Desk Concert. It’s such a great performance and it made me appreciate tracks like “Illegal” more and got me to discover some others like my new favorite of hers, “Girl Like Me.” Even if you have listened Fancy That multiple times, I recommend checking out the Tiny Desk Concert. It’s one of the performances on there that I wasn’t sure how it would work, but it ended up being so natural and fun.

Honorable Mentions

I’d also like to throw out “Ready to Die” by Andrew W. K., “The Happy Dictator” by Gorillaz, and “Wish” (Orchestral Version) by Trippie Redd as some other tracks that I’ve been listening to quite a bit recently. There’s a broad swath of genres between all the songs covered, so please check some of these out! I promise there’ll be at least one song out of all of these that will resonate with you!
