Lego Fortnite is a constant little bright spot on my life. For those out of the loop, Fortnite does frequent crossover with other games, brands, and franchises. One of those brands is Lego, which received its own set of side modes (as well as a real life Lego toy line).
When other franchises collaborate with Fortnite, if they fall under certain “family-friendly” guidelines, then those characters will also be added to the Lego submodes. And now, Fortnite and Lego has brought about a collaboration beyond my wildest dreams: Lego Gorillaz.
Now, to be clear, we’ll probably never get these in real life. Additionally, this was most likely slightly by chance. Bands and musical artists are generally not guaranteed to get into Lego Fortnite, unless they are in the Fortnite Music Pass (truthfully, Fortnite and all its submodes and such can be a lot).
Fortunately, we were lucky enough to get Gorillaz in the Music Pass, and as such, despite any non-family friendly content Gorillaz has made or been associated with, we got it! I am a huge Gorillaz and Lego fan, so this has been a dream of mine for a long time. Besides the fact that we got them, Fortnite really went all out with their designs, creating essentially best-of designs for each band member. Russel and Noodle have the designs from the Plastic Beach era, Murdoc has a design from Demon Days, and 2D’s comes straight from the “Saturnz Barz” music videos. Plus, Noodle has the Chuck Taylor’s from Gorillaz’s Converse collaboration that spawned “Do Ya Thing…” simply insane.
If you haven’t seen them yet, check them out! Please! These seems like a big deal for the band and hopefully this is some more exposure before the release of their teased next album!
